Stop the IOW council bringing in the ban of dogs in public spaces

I regularly walk through Northwood cemetery with my dog to enjoy walking along the squirrel trail. I always keep my dog on the lead and use a dog bag.

I am against the proposal of banning dogs off leads in public areas, dogs need to exercise off leads to run around and for their mental health too.

What a ridiculous idea. The earth isn't owned by humans. Animals should have the same rights

This move by the council will ruin tourism. Tourists flock to the island with their dogs as this island is a dog friendly island and needs to remain that way . Many island residents have dogs for companions and we need to be able to move around freely with our dogs without the fear of restrictions. Humans have free movement so should their dogs . Many dogs are used as unofficial therapy dogs and their owners need their dogs with them wherever they go. If the dogs are banned this effects the free movement of their owners which is surely in breach of their human rights ?

Absolutely ridiculous for the council to try and create this ban. You seriously need to concentrate on more serious issues like rubbish, used needles and generally youths destroying our children’s playgrounds.

Ridiculous idea! The areas should be available for all to enjoy. Humans leaving litter is far more of a problem.

Had been looking forward to visiting and enjoying beach walks with my dog . For over 60 years I have either lived on or visited the Island for the freedom to walk unfettered by these laws. Where I live there are times when dogs are not allowed on some beaches. Understandable and adhered to I hope this may be what is proposed and not a blanket ban for locals and visitors alike.

My dogs enjoy visiting the Isle of Wight and we always clean up after them. If dogs are banned we will no longer visit

What are we doing to our country? I don't have a dog but I really enjoy meeting them when walking every day to stay healthy! Isn't that more important, to stay fit and healthy both mentally and physically and yet they want to stop people from walking their dogs in specific areas.

To a lot of people dogs are their sole companion - to deny them access to these places with their furry friend is tantamount to cruelty

This is discrimination. Target bad owners and not the majority of responsible people. Don't lose the kudos of being a dog friendly island as it will impact tourism in the longer term

Think of the wellbeing of humans . This is the only contact with other people meets in parks and beaches etc

I don't see any reason why you cant walk your dog on the beach in the winter.

You need to remember that some dog owners are disabled and can’t go trapsing over uneven ground. My dog loves walking on the beach or round a cemetery as it’s FLAT! It’s safer for me. Please remember this when trying to take away something from an island that is mostly older and disabled oriented.

Why ban dogs, I have never seen a dog leave rubbish on a beach!
