As an island resident and owner of 3 dogs this idea from the council is absolutely unnecessary. My 3 dogs love the beach and are able to roam free and enjoy a swim in the summer. In my opinion it is people that dont like dogs that should be banned from dog friendly beaches as it causes many arguments or signs should be put up saying "This is a dog friendly beach, dogs roaming free" then they have a choice weather to use that beach or not and if they choose to use the beach except that dogs may approach them. I'm 100% against this proposal and will still continue to walk my dogs on beaches that there allowed on. If the council force this and it becomes law its not just the dog owners and dogs it will affect it will be our tourist trade as people who take their dogs on holiday with them will not come to the island, businesses will suffer and people who own dog friendly holiday accommodation will loose vital income.

Yet another nail in the coffin the IOW council seems determined to destroy all that is good. Will they ban horses from roads and beaches and will all cat owners be made to keep them inside so they do not foul public and private gardens?

Who came up with this stupid idea? It will kill tourism for people who have dogs and come to the island to enjoy the dog friendly areas.

We need our spaces to walk with our dogs, our families, our friends, meet new people and help our mental health. Being outside is great for us, the Island and business.

This appears to be a delegated decision by the Council, in other words the Councillors you have voted for are distancing themselves from this because they know it will get them voted out if they show support. Tell your councillor you will not tolerate this persecution, if they won't listen vote them out, they are supposed to represent you.

The only reason I come to the Isle of Wight is because it is so dog friendly. Dogs make people happy. Put more poop bins around though please.

Only selfish dog owners spoil it for the many good ones out there. People leave far more rubbish on the beaches than dogs. I own a holiday chalet and allow dogs and they make less mess than when small children stay. I do also like children and respect they need to be able to play safely. However sanction the inconsiderate owners only!

We holiday on the IOW and love the 'doodle meets' on Yaverland Beach. It's a major draw for us. To take this away - for what reason? is a crime. Bad and shortsighted thinking.
