Steve is a community builder, a supporter of students, a bright light and an excellent human being. Do he right thing and renew his lease.

Don't let corporate America take over this humble business, from this wonderful man.

Instead of turning the U of A into a cash cow for corporate businesses, as has been the norm since beginning my studies in 2011, we should embrace the businesses who have worked to develop a genuine customer base.

Renew Steve's lease. He is a wonderful caring man who has always been there for the students, faculty and staff. We stand with him.

This type of business, and business owner, is what makes a university special, and builds community. We should not take that away.

This was the first coffee shop i went to at the U of A. Steve was so wonderful and welcoming - he made me realize that everything was going to be okay, and that the U of A was a friendly place!

Steve's Hello My Friend Cafe cannot be closed! It is a vital part of the community at the U of A and beyond that, there are few people in the world that are as thoughtful, encouraging and supportive as Steve. I graduated 7 years ago and I still appreciate the kindness that I received every time I visited Java Jive and then Hello My friend cafe.

As a girl in soc and psyc who spends most of her day in ccis and loves starbucks since its close to me, I do not wish this will go to a starbucks, second cup or tims. I hope the Law students will be able to keep this amazing guy and shop around. The Uni needs to start listening to their students and understanding what we want, not what they want, we are the ones who put money in their pockets.

Not being a coffee drinker I have not had a lot of personal interaction with Steve and his Cafe myself, but that has not stopped me from recognizing the great community building nature of this man and business. I encourage University administration to properly and fully consult with students on this move. I am disappointed that no such consultation has occurred to date.

I have not read a more true statement than that in the first paragraph of this petition. Hello My Friend Cafe is integral to the well being and mental health of the students and faculty at the University of Alberta Law Faculty. I know that I would have had a difficult time making it through law school without Steve and his kind words and caffeine. I have so many fond memories of times spent enjoying a coffee in the Gavel, or of a quick good morning exchanged with Steve as I grabbed my coffee and rushed to class. He was always there to greet you with a smile on his face and it could make your whole day brighter. The loss of Steve and Hello My Friend Cafe would be a tremendous loss to the law school community and I think that any repurposing should be with the intention of retaining the cafe.
