The University should be a place where businesses like this thrive. This Cafe has done more to create community than most faculties.

Please keep Steve and his coffee shop. I am an acting student and primarily work in the Fine Arts Building, next door to the Law Building, and Steve's coffee shop has become the go-to place for most of my class. Great coffee, great food, and most importantly a great man. His genuine interest is every person that comes into his shop is incredible and unique, as his ability to remember every face! It's places like Steve's that make a university feel like a community.

Steve was a huge part of my law school experience. He always had a kind word and a smile on his face, and this alone helped to brighten a stressful or overwhelming day of assignments or exams. I can't picture the Faculty of Law without Hello My Friend Cafe and Steve, and I would never support any other business which took the place of the Cafe.

Cafes such as Steve's are what give our campus character and make our city great. While I am not a law student, I understand and appreciate that Steve is a fixture in the faculty and provides a space for community to grow and thrive. I would like to express my deep dismay at the idea of this local, independently operated space to be "repurposed" into another Starbucks or Subway. We can and should do better, University of Alberta. Uplifting the whole people means acknowledging the needs and desires of your students and keeping campus community alive.

Steve is a member of the law school community in a way that no corporate coffee chain ever can be.

The loss of warm welcoming spaces like this is a loss to the community. At a time when the UofA is dealing with student stress related issues, spaces like this should no be repurposed - especially if its to a Starbucks!

The world already has enough Starbucks (if that's the plan). Family owned businesses are partly what community's are based on

Hello My Friend is an utterly irreplaceable part of the experience at the U of A Faculty of Law, and the lease should be renewed without question.

I'm not in the Law faculty, so I've never stopped foot in the Law building at all. I've never heard of this cafe until now. But people seem sad it is being threatened with removal. So I'm showing my support for keeping it around.
