As a fine arts student, "Hello My Friend Cafe" has been an essential study & get-away spot just next door to FAB. It isn't just law students who will loose out if UofA repurposes this space, it is everyone. In an institution where it is very easy to feel like a number on a page or a walking dollar sign, people like Steve are a godsend.

Steve has been a generous and supportive friend of the law faculty for years. It is now time for us to give our support to Steve. When I return to visit the faculty, Steve is the first person I check in to see.

I would be absolutely heartbroken with the loss of 'Hello My Friend Cafe'. I'm not a law student, but I make the trip from Campus St Jean two or three times a week for a cup of tea, a nice place to study and a chat with Steve.

The Hello My Friend Cafe is an outstanding part of the student experience at the U of A Faculty of Law. Many of the cafe's benefits are intangible, though I have no doubt that the sense of community it provides assists in Alumni support in the long term.

This is not a person the University should displace on a whim nor for the purpose of enhancing the property and image of a corporation.

Steve has always been friendly and welcoming each time I visited the law school - and I am not a student nor am I alumni!

Absolutely in support of this establishment continuing. Steve is a committed and friendly businessman and I've been a regular for the past year since I discovered Hello My Friend Cafe. So many arts/law students are friends with/ customers of Steve that it would be disgusting to see the university destroy such a wonderful business that is so appreciated.

Steve is a big part of the u of a law experience. I meet alumni and we talk about profs and Steve. Not renewing Steve's lease is a move for the worse, not the better.

Keep Steve. I'm not necessarily opposed to 're-purposing' the space, because I don't know what that means. Whatever it means, Steve should be a part of the discussion, and the U of A should try to keep him. He's a part of the community. Not only that, he makes the law school, and the university, a better place. I think everyone wants that.

I first met Steve when he worked at Java Jive and I was an undergrad. Through caffeine and warm conversations, he made my university life so much better. Though I was only able to visit him a few times in his new endeavour in the Law building, I'm certain he was a positive influence in the building, in the community and to everyone whose path he's crossed. Steve is an important fixture to U of A culture. Don't deprive students of future interactions with Steve. Please renew his lease!

As a 2013 U of A Law alumnus, my memories of Steve and "Hello My Friend Cafe" run deep. Steve is well known among Alberta's legal community as many of us greatly benefited from Steve's presence in our faculty. For the U of A Faculty of Law to lose such a great service and person would be an absolute travesty. The U of A administration must reconsider its position.
