Steve's Hello My Friend cafe is a core part of our law school. I strongly support renewing the lease for Steve's cafe.

Steve doesn't just serve coffee- he is integral for the mental health of law students and staff. I can't count how many times Steve provided sound advice and encouragement during the dreadful stressful days of law school.

I didn't have a great experience at U of A Law, but Steve and his "Hello My Friend Cafe" always made every day a little more enjoyable.

I support keeping Steve and the Hello My Friend Cafe in the Law Centre. I cannot think of another use of the space that would be more beneficial to students than keeping Steve's cafe here. Steve does a wonderful job providing friendly services to law students and provides a meaningful contribution to improving the law school experience for us.

I'm not a law student but I went for coffee at Steve's a few times, and know how legendary and well loved he is on campus. Removing his cafe would be a huge loss for the faculty, the students, the university, and campus. Steve is a great guy and I would be so sad to see him go. Come on U of A...save Steve!

In addition to, and consistent with, being one of the nicest and friendliest individuals you will meet, Steve also donates all of his tips to the food bank. It is terrific to see his impact has been far reaching and that he is universally celebrated. He is an excellent representative of the University and role model for its patrons.

I don't even drink coffee and this cafe was still instrumental to my time at UofA. Fresh fruit was much better than vending machine snacks those late study nights.

Steve remembered me from when I was at U of A, then when I returned with my toddlers, until they became students. Really, U of A???

I recently walked my 5 year old son through the law faculty 10 years after I was last there only to run into one familiar face, Steve. He is an integral part of the school and the students.

Steve knew me by name and knew what area I was in. He always asked about my students, and showed genuine respect for why I was there. If I bought coffee before class I went back rejuvenated. He always had a smile on his face and treated us like we were the most important people on the face of the earth. Please save this space for him, or at the very, very least relocate him to a desirable location so we can all continue our amazing relationship with Steve.

Steve's enormous and ongoing positive contribution to the UofA community should weigh heavily in any space management decision. He's been giving us our morning jolts and lifting our spirits for a lot longer than most people have been here. If there's some incredible reason why the space needs to be reallocated, then UofA should in good conscience find an equally suitable space for Steve to continue his operation. Anything short of this would be highly inconsiderate of his loyalty to the community, and an irresponsible loss for UofA

Although I have never met Steve, since I had already graduated from Law before his arrival, as a law student who can first-hand speak to the stresses of writing final exams worth 100 percent of one's grade, it would have been comforting to have day-to-day dealings with a person like Steve, who according to other present-day students, gives words of encouragement and provides support to his student-customers. As a practicing lawyer, I can't underemphasize the importance of work with positive and supportive individuals. The university should be fostering businesses such as Steve's, rather than hindering them, since businesses like Steve's provide invaluable support to its students.
