As a recruiter from Bennett Jones LLP (Calgary), I looked forward to seeing Steve each year of my visits to the U of A. He was truly a fixture and pillar of the U of A law community and it is extremely unfortunate that his lease is not being renewed.

Uplifting the whole community, includes small businesses, and people that provide not only a daily dose of coffee, but also a daily does of well - being and warm social interaction.

small things like steve's "hello my friend cafe" make our university different and give a warmer place for students, the extra $ you will make is kind of selling the soul of the faculty of law

The administration needs to consult with the community about the highest and best purpose for this space, and I'd be most surprised to find that there is a better idea than offering Steve a new lease on reasonable terms.

It's disgusting to think that my University would do this. Do the right thing.

Incredibly disappointed with the UofA's lack of consultation. Hello My Fried Cafe, and more importantly Steve is the definition of community-builder. Even five years after graduating from the UofA, living abroad and returning home to Calgary, I can immediately place Steve, the Cafe, and the many conversations and meetings I had there. I mention this to demonstrate that a place, and a community was created of which I was (and still to a degree am) a part.

Steve is a fixture at the U of A who has always treated faculty and staff with kindness, honesty and respect. He deserves the same. Keep Hello My Friend Cafe open by renewing his lease.

Lovely little cafe, great coffee, friendly place in a sometimes very cold and impersonal university. Consider it an appeal to students mental wellbeing when I say that Hello My Friend should really stay.

It is a shame when local businesses are replaced by large corporations. Renew Steve's lease and keep real, local culture alive and well at the U of A!

Please renew Steve's lease! I spent many a finals season in the Law Library (even though I'm not a law student), simply because I looked forward to a five-second chat with Steve. He does incredible things for student health.

Hello My Friend Cafe, is a wonderful hub for Law and Fine Arts Students alike! It would be a shame to lose such a great gathering place and such a wonderful guy!
