We, the faithful Catholics of the Lexington Diocese, humbly petition you to reconsider and cancel the event titled “A Conversation With and About Transgender Persons,” scheduled to take place at Historic St. Paul Catholic Church on April 7, 2025.
We stand united with Pope Francis in affirming the principles of Dignitas Infinitus, which calls us to respect and protect the inherent dignity of every human being as created by God. As the Holy Father has taught, we are to embrace and uphold our humanity with reverence.
In this Lenten season, a time for reflection, repentance, and strengthening our faith, we ask that this event be halted out of love for our Christian brothers and sisters, for the teachings of the Holy Mother Church, and for our Blessed Lord.
With respect and devotion, we humbly urge you to act in accordance with these principles.

The response to this petition has been overwhelming and serves as a heavy reminder of how many people feel discarded by these decisions. It is exhausting to fight for the tradition of our parish, yet seeing this level of momentum proves we are not alone in our concerns.

Bp Stowe, while you will refuse to read or consider this petition, please remember as a bishop/ shepherd, you have one job. Save souls in your charge. Please consider the eternal consequences.
Dear Bishop Stowe, Please do not allow this event to take place April 7, 2025 at St. Paul Catholic Church, next to Sts. Peter & Paul Regional Catholic School as it sends a confusing message to the lay faithful and especially children that sex change intervention is in some fashion accepted by the Church when in fact it risks threatening the unique dignity of the person. While the church acknowledges that persons suffer from gender dysphoria it states “creation is prior to us and must be accepted as a gift” so “it follows that any sex-change intervention, as a rule, risks threatening the unique dignity the person has received from the moment of conception.” “Dignitas Infinitus” on Human Dignity, Holy See Press Office, 8/24/2024.
By having this event it looks like you are condoning, even encouraging trans just like you seem to always condone and encourage same sex sexual activity. Just not Catholic. You should love them but stand firm on Catholic teaching on all sins.
This is contrary to what the church teaches. You are either Male or Female at birth. You are not to able to change what God has created.

Peter & Paul Catholic School as it sends the message that we support a life style that is disordered and will suffer physical harm from taking carcinogenic hormones, but rather state that we are called to respect and support the person who suffers with this cross. I am disgusted and horrified to see this scandal occurring at a “Catholic” church in a “Catholic” diocese! The Kentucky bishops are why my family could never live in Kentucky (we live half a mile over the border in VA and that’s a line we will not cross). This scandal will be punished by God Himself.
I pray for these people. I do not condone or endorse them as this meeting appears to be doing. They suffer from a medical illness that is being promulgated by our culture and social media.

It is crucial that we follow the teachings of Chris and Bible, not the opinions of man. Such a discussion does not belong in any Christian church. Our purpose is to lead unrepentant sinners to Jesus for the salvation of their souls. Such discussions, I believe , are misleading in that they go beyond loving the sinner to approving of the sinners' lifestyle, thus, leading on a path straight to hell. Please consider canceling this event. Thank you.
