Your Excellency

We the faithful of your diocese implore you as our shepherd to please reconsider your decision to allow Fr. Martin to come and speak at Wernersville Jesuit Center on April 27, 2019. At a time when we are reeling from the crisis in our church and struggling to trust the hierarchy, the last thing we need is a priest with documented heretical beliefs to “share” about anything regarding homosexuality.

We are still trying to live with the revelation that 80% of the crimes committed by clergy against our children were homosexual in nature. The article in the AD Times admonishing people to be welcoming was somewhat off-putting. Of course we love and welcome ALL marginalized people as the Catechism teaches. However, since August 2018 we have been on our knees, begging God for healing of our fellow brothers and sisters who were harmed by predatory homosexual priests who were WELCOMED into the priesthood and then transferred from place to place where they could harm our children again and again.

We are the children, the mothers and the fathers who have been harmed by all of this scandal and therefore we implore you as our shepherd and spiritual father to tend to the wounds of your flock by assuring us that you reject the heretical teachings of Fr. Martin and will courageously uphold our church's moral theology.

Because Fr. Martin:

1. Said Catholics should "reverence" homosexual "marriage"

2. Supports transgenderism for children

3. Favors homosexual kissing during Mass

4. Called a dissident, pro-homosexual nun a "saint"

5. Welcomed an award from a group condemned by the USCCB

We respectfully ask you to rescind his invitation to our Diocese.

Excellency, how will you answer to God for your actions vis-a-vis His clear Word in Romans 1:32 if you fail to rescind this invitation? I pray that you take courage and stand against this scourge, for your sake and the sake of your flock. Yours in Christ, Eric McWhirter

Bishop James Martin is promoting homosexuality as an okay practice. He does not ever proclaim the sin of acting on that inclination. He should not be allowed to speak publicly. This is outrageous and makes me very suspicious of our Allentown Diocesan Bishop. Such a disgrace.

Outreach is something done on a one on one basis in a compassionate and careful way with the intention of truly bringing Christ to someone who is struggling with homosexuality or any other sin. Allowing father Martin a forum like this does the opposite and causes more confusion for those seeking the truth about our faith.

I converted to the Catholic Church 20 years ago because I agreed with the Church's teachings and believe it is the Church that Jesus Christ founded. This priest does not represent those teachings.

we as Catholics accept people as Jesus taught us to do but when acceptance includes acting morally wrong we need to STOP and fix the mess we are in instead of condoning more!.

We are faithful, but heartbroken. When will those who misrepresent church teachings be confronted? Help us dear Bishop Schlert. Thankyou.
