To allow visitation at NYS Nursing Homes, without having to be 28 days Covid-free.

NYS should follow CMS guidelines. We haven’t seen my sister, (wife, mother) since June. Every time a visit is scheduled, an employee tests positive & visitation is delayed for another 28 days. I have written/called elected officials w/o response. Are we suffering because of Cuomo politically motivated & bad decision to readmit residents to facilities? Tired of being punished because of political greed & self interests. REUNITE FAMILIES!! I can go to a bar, get a tattoo but can’t see my sister!! We can follow protocols!

I'm willing to be tested & have an outside visit. Now that schools are reopening, more staff will test positive so we will never reach 28 days virus free. Meanwhile, since 7/11/2020, only 1 resident has tested positive on 8/2/2020. But 15 staff have tested positive during that same time. I do not work, & have not been with anyone that has tested positive or been sick. Can the staff say the same? They are allowed into the facility & can touch our loved ones!!

My 94 year old dad is at the Long Island State Veterans Home on Long Island. We are grateful to the nursing staff for taking good care of him under very difficult circumstances. But it is time for an alternate visitation plan which does NOT include the 28 day COVID FREE guideline. Without a vaccine, this is proving to be impossible and the NY DOH should provide allowances especially for larger facilities. The LISVH cares for over 300 residents and has 675 employees. ZERO COVID cases for 28 days? So far, that’s not possible. NY’s general population is testing at a little less than a one percent infection rate. Using a guideline for nursing homes based on similar percentages would allow the LISVH to have 7 or 8 positive COVID cases and STILL be less than the general public infection rate. These residents haven’t seen their families in person for over 6 months with no end in sight. NYS DOH is keeping visitors out of these facilities for over 6 months to “keep residents safe and COVID FREE” but guess what? They’re STILL not COVID FREE! So apparently the plan isn’t working. At this point, keeping elderly residents from seeing their loved ones for over 6 months (and counting) is a fate worse than death (and for spouses too.) It’s time for NEW visitation guidelines that are closer to the general public’s infection rate of less than one percent. Let our residents see even ONE designated visitor who agrees to weekly testing just like employees. Please...

More Like Jail for so many who arent able to see their looked ones, my mom was at home no calls from them just once for more clothing, no updates on her condition of PT and They had case of the Virus on Aug 15th and her floor was shutdown and PT was given in all their room at bedside. She wanted to be discharged , besidesthey called me to let me know she also had open wound. Shame Shame Carmel Richmond Archcare Hearing so many horrible stories someone should be Regulating these issues in her system of Nursing Home not being overlooked!

Please allow us to visit our loved ones.

Please allow face to face visits in doors in a designated area with all safety precautions in place. Our seniors need contact with their families. Isolation is a killer!

Allowed to see my mom 1x week through glass window - she cries - loudly - they want to dope her up. This is a perfectly reasonable response to not being able to touch her, hold her hand or for her to touch my face. Separating her from her family is a fate worse than death for my mother. She survived covid this is her reward? She prays for death.

Please lift these extreme precautions. M

Leroy Village Green Leroy N.Y. never had any covid and still remain Covid free. My mother is 89 yrs old with a terrible injury and confused about why she can’t see us. She will never never be able to go home again. Expressed how lonely she is. This is not advantageous to her healing. Hospital allowed 1 person a day to visit. Why can’t nursing homes! Please!

Covid free for 28 days is just too strict a requirement.

LET PEOPLE SEE THEIR LOVED ONES!!!

Strong Hospital in Rochester,NY allows maximum 4 hours a day; one visitor per day. Temperature checks and masks mandatory. Why not enact such a policy for nursing homes?

Prisoners are allowed visitors. It's time Nursing Home Patients be able to visit with their loved ones!
