To allow visitation at NYS Nursing Homes, without having to be 28 days Covid-free.

Parent with dementia, needs daily fam advocate. Recently even WINDOW visits were removed. Parent on first floor, and negative covid. NO EXCUSE for lack of window visits. Anonymous because potential retaliations. NHs retaliate. All the time. With impunity.

My 90-year-old father is in a NYC nursing home that has hundreds of patients/staff. It could be months before they are Covid-free for 28 days. Even hospitals are allowing visitors. These rules are heartless and unpractical. Please revisit.

This policy is so cruel!

Family cannot monitor well-being of our mother, who cannot talk.

Helping a friend w/a grandmother who hasn't been able to see her family since March.

Please allow family members to visit their loved ones who are in nursing home facilities as isolation is detrimental to the residents' psychological and emotional well being.

Please ease these restrictions within safety parameters. These families need to have some time together.

Loved ones need loved ones. Take the proper precautions and safety measures.

Please allow visitation, with proper precautions. It's no different then interacting with store employees.

Missing my mom. Haven’t hugged her in 4 months. .

I could am not agree more. These patients NEED to be around family and also being outside in the sunshine, Vitamin D will do them world of good. I strongly believe that ALL nursing home patients be given Vitamin D. I am a strong believer that Vitamin D can lower the risk of severe Covid 19. Company and Vitamin D would do these patients good. Just because they are in a nursing home, should never ever diminish their life. Patients who have no family could be assigned volunteers to take them outside. Visit and chat and see the beauty of the earth. Being in a nusring home is difficult for many. Being shut up in a room in my opinion, can lower their resistance, cause depression and make them feel that their quality of life is no more. It does not have to be this way. Even after the Covid 19 is over, patients still need company and Sunshine. I tend to feel the results would be wonderful for them. An upside would be too, that they have something to look forward too.

My mother’s facility has been strict and we are only able To visit through the glass sliding door and talk by phone. While I would love to give mom a hug, I support the most stringent restrictions on nursing home visits. My Uncle though suffering from Alzheimer’s was quite physically healthy living at The Ambassador in White Plains which was hit early with Covid and while there was no test conducted, after two weeks of the exact symptoms that indicate Covid, he died. 8 Rochester nursing homes have had deaths due to Covid. My mother’s facility has not had ONE SINGLE CASE! Not one. Not one resident. Not one nurse. Not one administrator but as for visitors ? Doesn’t matter. We don’t get to go in and I SUPPORT IT 1,000,000 percent. There are ways to visit without a hug and I don’t want my mother’s life in the hands of some idiot from Florida who came up to visit his mother while coughing on mine. Desperate times call for desperate measures . We need to drop what I call the “entitled American mentality” and do this right. In China, if you leave your home during quarantine you get either arrested or shot. I am not endorsing living in a totalitarian country but if we seriously sacrificed life for one month and done it right, this would be over by now. I miss Mom. I’ll miss her more if some idiot sneezes and she dies.

It was too late for me (my mom passed). No one should have to go through the emotional distress I am going through now!

Family needs each other. It’s been long enough!!!
