I will be going to Tech in the spring and I have considered going somewhere else because of the parking.

They are stupid if they go through with it. And that's saying it in a nice way.

Have the parking garage built and usable before charging for it... This seems silly.

This feels very wrong to me. It feels as though the administration is just trying to make money in a sneaky way. It's bad enough that books are so expensive and all the other little fees that come with college (and if you ask me some of these should be included in the cost of tuition), but to charge people in this way for parking just seems wrong. This campus is not as large as the others mentioned so how can they compare themselves with those larger universities? My husband is a student and we are struggling to survive just long enough for him to graduate and ridiculous fees like this is what makes it almost impossible for us to make it through it. We have 2 small children and I have health issues so I'm unable to work so getting my husband a degree seems like our only chance at a decent future. Things like this keep making it hard for us to survive. I just wish TTU would think about people like us when they make big decisions about extra fees.

I think the parking is overpriced for college students, especially for students who will never see it.

Why don't you take some of the money out of the budget for our terrible football team to pay for parking that is badly needed?

As a proud Tech Alum, I cannot get behind this plan. It hurts students. Parking was an issue when I was a student. Comparing the parking situation to MTSU or UT Chat is a false equivalence. Cookeville is not as large/expensive as M-Boro or Chat. There is more land available to put parking lots in and it is less expensive. Tech needs to administratively find funds to pay for multi storied parking garages. Many alums would contribute as we remember the mess of parking all to well. At the end of the day, students with limited means should not be forced to pay more for an issue that needs to be resolved by those running the university. You wouldn't make your 12 year old child pay the light bill, so why punish students with limited funds by making them pay exorbitant amounts to fund a new scheme for a problem older than the average Tech student.

I loved tech when I went there, but parking is God awful. To the point where I would advise s student who commutes or has a car to attend a different school.

It would be one thing if parking wasn't an absurd issue here to begin with, but to charge even more to park on a campus that can't provide adequate parking is ridiculous. Also, I think it's pathetic that I would have to pay $155 to park WHERE I LIVE, even when the cost of housing is already insane. Get it together, Tech.

This "new" parking plan is just absolutely ridiculous!! The majority of the students go here because its supposed to be a cheaper higher education. With this new parking plan to pay ridiculous amounts of money, that most students don't have. I for one hate trying to park here now, little on next semester! I can't wait to graduate from this place!!!!

This may work at bigger schools like MTSU and UTK, but TTU is smaller and places surrounding campus are very tow-happy. If you implement such high parking fees, people will simply not see this school as worth it. Class attendance will drop, grades will drop and then graduation rates will drop and then NO ONE will want to go to our wonderful school.
