The Meadows School has always taught, upheld and represented the highest standard of excellence! The Meadows School believes in excellence in all things! Excellence in the classroom, excellence as a human being, excellence in how we dress, excellence in how we conduct ourselves outside of school, etc, etc! The Meadows School holds children to a higher standard than other schools in our community and the children of The Meadows School deliver by living up to the standards that are set and exist.
By reducing the standard of the uniform dress code, the standards of all things Meadows School come into jeopardy.

I agree strongly with the sentiments of both Caroline Goodman and Kristine Creel. Personally, I work very hard and make immense sacrifices in order to provide my children with the kind of education that the Meadow School has provided, and I find the decision to make such a fundamental alteration to the Meadow School experience, traditions, and standards to be hasty and without sufficient consideration.

A school in which students are expected to wear standardized dress or a school uniform is an environment where administrators and teachers are sending a clear message that students need to put academics before fashion. We have seen the degradation in society by departing from traditional values. This seems to be a decision that was made without reasonable notice to parents and substantive debate prior to the Trustees decision. I pray the parents are successful in overriding this policy change.

When, as a parent, you chose The Meadows for your child(ren), you are making a commitment to the program and all that comes with it. That would include the uniform policy, the Pledge of Allegiance, quiet time at lunch in lower school, community service requirements, and an education that most would argue surpasses all in Las Vegas. That is just to name a few. If at any time, the foundation of what the school is doesn't work for the student or the family, simply chose another school. This foundation is what sets The Meadows apart from the rest.

I would like to keep the same uniforms, but I strong suggest the girls' skirts need to be longer! Right now for high school students is too short!!!!

Deviating from the traditions that have worked so successfully for so many years is a great mistake, and a slippery slope. What will come next - changing the curriculum because a few students feel that it is too rigorous? Questioning the high standards that this great school upholds because some may find them too challenging? This is very concerning, and I hope that we can hold on to the great traditions of the Meadows and keep the uniform the way it has been.

Dear Board of Trustees of The Meadows School, Mr. Gregersen, and Meadows community:
Pursuant to Mr. Gregersen's letter regarding the board meeting on May 11, 2015, do I understand correctly that the Board of Trustees of The Meadows School achieved a true consensus that the school is now to be gender free? The letter states this in regards to middle and upper school uniforms as well as inclusivity. Mr. Gregersen proudly declared this a watershed moment at the open Parents Association Meeting at 8:00 on May 19, 2015.
When I broached the subject in this open forum, many parents agreed that the uniform does support its stated goal of fostering esprit de corps. I sensed a general feeling that parents are proud when their children are nicely dressed with distinction. Some were unaware of the letter or decision, asking if a decision had already been made. Some felt we should get with the times, so to speak, and that the school should react immediately to the uproar in the popular culture around sexuality and gender identity. Some felt this issue to be private and inappropriate for school age children, as if children were being used as pawns in this latest iteration of "the sexual revolution." One mother expressed her desire to do away with the lower school plaid jumper due to cost. Many unforeseen consequences were discussed. For example, I was left to wonder how a strict policy of neutrality toward "gender and gender identity" would affect lower school enrollment. Would we continue to enforce gender quotas of 30 boys and 30 girls per grade?
At one point Mr. Gregorson asked, "What are you going to do the day a transgender walks through the door of the school?" My response was the obvious: that we, the Meadows community at large, would respond with love in accordance with the best traditions of our school. Do we really need to make a big change to our traditions in anticipation of a hypothetical situation? What is the r

I feel school dress code should remain as such! This is not the place to discuss 'gender' whatever! Everyone can keep 'questionable gender' at home and stick to the school principles for only 7hrs of the day. What anyone does in their personal time is their personal business. We have invested the future of 3 children in this respectable school and do not expect the standards to change to 'accommodate' a couple of families who may have issues with their children in this subject!
I feel the way this was done was totally wrong. We were 'informed' of decisions that were made and falsely informed that we had Mrs Goodmans blessings during that closed meeting where this was discussed.
If it was just a matter of introducing an additional uniform choice for girls, it would go down much better, instead of 'changing school dress policy on gender unidentifiability?!'
There was no need to open up this can of worms!

This is a slippery slope that will erode the foundation of the school and community. There is no need revise the dress code, students can always choose to go to a different school.
