The situation that we are now facing is difficult and the school had to come up with an emergency plan on how to tackle this. Unfortunately, for the younger years, the support was limited and the half an hour online lessons were not enough to cover the material, answer questions and allow time for discussion. Some more personalized approach was needed with some small group discussions with teacher, 1:1s and structured individual feedback on work. For this reason, I believe the school year needs to be extended to cover for the time that is lost.

With this situation, I dont envy the school managment, parents, teachers and students. Human beings need certainty, routine and comfort which was all swept away in a month like a nightmare. This situation needs consolidation and community unity. Therefore a school reduction is recommended or another fee structure should be offered to parents: 1. Who cannot pay at all 2. Who can pay partially 3. Who can pay in advance 4. who can contribute on behalf of others.
I hope and wish this will be over soon for everyone fortune and sanity. A special thank you for the managment, teachers and stakeholders who make this school special.

We totally agree with this initiative. The school, reacted quite swiftly in activating the online platform for Y5, while for KS1 was much later, and must say a big thank you to the teachers for their efforts, as they also are affected by this "like war situation". Bottom line, we , the parents are not qualified teachers, and despite the good intentions of the teachers, children are not receiving the education they should. Given the current unprecedented and unpredicted situation, the school management should offer to parents various options based on potential scenarios. Unfortunately, noone knows what will happen but the possible scenarios are somehow predictable: 1. No return to school until Sept. ( how fees apply for 2019-2020?) 2. Return to school in June? 3. No return at all in 2020...Therefore, a reduction in fees would allow families, despite the unknown financial situation to keep their children at the school until we return to some stability. The School has done very poorly...also replying to emails sent...a few days after school closed....Very dissaponting.The on-line sessions were introduced after sufficient pressure by some parents....and not properly done.(reflecting most probably what normal days look like).I need to point out that as a parent i need to exclude the Greek lessons from the above comments ...the lessons were organized.Having said all the above...I sign the petition...without having much hope...since...all measures...are taken ...not as a product of will...but an enforcing act by parents.Very sad!

A good night’s sleep is beneficial for children’s immunity, not to mention parents’ effort to pacify kids during the 2 and a half hours when there are no lessons. Under the current circumstances, staying home healthy and happy is more important than ‘working hours’. We support this petition.

1) On-line teaching should be done in full from 8-13, under normal syllabus, as per the school’s program for all ages. Following the break times.
2) thats the only way to make kids feel organised and show them that indeed they should study! Questions/Answers sessions, merely, do not show results. Kids do not feel that it is mandatory to go on-line if they dont have any questions. Therefore, a normal teaching online should be thought the soonest.
3) As well as extension of school hours during vacations is must.

As an old pupil of the Junior School myself I would like to see it maintaining its standards on all fronts!!!!. The school did try from day one to conform and adapt with the unprecedented and chaotic times we are all living in but unfortunately as the days went by it was apparent they could not keep up with the on line classes for all students as is the case with most if not all other schools both locally and internationally. I am therefore signing this petition in good faith that the school themselves will want our children to be up to standard with their schooling for 2019 2020 !. Thank you

The school has done its best under the circumstances but these online classes can in no way substitute for in-class lessons. Since we have paid tuition fees in full for this academic year and have not received our money’s worth (not the school’s fault) the school MUST fulfill its obligations in order to teach by example all the values that they say they stand for and try to teach our children.

Even though for us it’s not an issue, i understand that it is an issue for a number of people in the school community. We appreciate the work that has been done from the teachers and all of the school but I believe that there has to be a compromise from the school as well since this is an extraordinary situation otherwise it will result into some people taking their kids out of the school due to lack of financial resources. The fact that 100% of schools services are not provided because of the situation, and the intention of raising tuition fees for next year, are both issues that need to be considered from the management. The government has also announced finically relief measurements for businesses as well to cope with this issue. Please consider the whole situation

After this lockdown and all the stress that comes with this pandemic, I feel that we and our children will need to decompress and relax to whatever extent is possible. This is important for everyone's mental health. A break of even a month is essential.
I also must say that the school must now show solidarity with the parents at this most strenuous time. After this crisis, life will not be the same for many people, emotionally and financially. Many institutions, such as banks and governmental agencies, have adjusted their rules and regulations in order to assist those most in need in this crisis. The Junior school should do the same. Isn't this what is impressed upon our children after all - that we are one big family?
