Sixteen-year-old Bettina Ryan was killed after being struck by an SUV on Monday. She suffered trauma to her brain due to the absence of a helmet. Florida is one of many states where it is not legally required that cyclists wear helmets. If it had been, and Bettina was wearing one, maybe she'd be alive today. Although I wasn't a personal friend of Bettina's, I did know her well, and I know that she was a beloved friend of many. Let's not let her death be in vain. Sign this petition and spread the word.
