I am a retired educator with experience teaching all natural sciences at the secondary level. My focus is getting someone into office that understands that teachers go through many years of training in their content areas. We are experts at teaching our content areas and providing facilitated instruction for all students. We also have training in all ability levels and can tell you at what grades standards students should be learning developmentally and academically. Our lessons are planned to give provided background information, practice, and hands-on application. We need someone in office that understands that we know the latest and best teacher practices to achieve success in our content areas. How can they tell us it isn't being taught right when they have not sat in our graduate classes with us and learned the correct way it is taught and how students learn...we have! Give us that respect!!

it's very overwhelming being an older parent of a 6 year old and trying to understand how all testing and homework works in favor a the child. And as a parent, being older, i feel a little stupid trying to understand. thanks tim for helping me understand that the teachers are feeling the same way.
