It's not fair on low income families and causes a divide.

what next...all children pay for the privilege to go to school after their parents and grandparents paid taxes all their lives, sounds a bit of a dictatorship to me!!!!!

I am a single WORKING mum of 2 which isn't easy even on a daily basis as I am penalised for working & receive no benefits. So to give my children experiences like others is really difficult, I hope this can be resolved before my daughter begins TCC.

Disgusting! You should hang your heads in shame. I hope all the staff are paying the same price.

We need to stand together to make all school trips available to all with no stigma

Ridiculous that u get fined for taking the kids out of school for a family holiday yet these are allowed to go on at a cost of hundreds to parents! In these comparisons shouldnt the school now be fined for not allowing the children to attend?! I wonder how many sickness bugs there will be that week from parents who cant afford this so called "educational experience"!

My daughter went to this college and one trip was going to cost £1100... we were going to put it on credit but then then decided to increase the cost to £1400 cos so few were signing up.. we had to bail.. no way could we find extra money... sad for my daughter x

I went to this school, many moons ago, and it was the same back then. My parents actually took me to Greece for our family holiday that week instead (before the time of fines) but it was cheaper than the options from the school. This is blatant discrimination and yet it would be so easy to run a drama or music workshop or sports training week, all leading up to a big show/concert/demo/match for the kids to show off and parents to be proud at, all for free (or minimal cost)

I have actually emailed school , nothing back so far, I am angry there is only one option for children that stay in school and £50 .

Strongly agree with this. My son was not able to go a few years ago due to extortionate prices. The cost of 1 week "deep learning" for 1 child equates to a large proportion for a holiday for a family of four. Does not equate for me personally. Something which has always intrigued me is do those teachers/parents/mentors attending with the students pay their way too? I don't believe you'd find too many of the above paying out their hard earned money to go on an excursion when in all likelihood they would rather have a holiday with their loved ones for the same price.

If we didn't pay and kept our children at home for the week would they try to fine people? I don't think the school would get away with not having a free option if parents informed the education authorities that they couldn't afford to send their children to school for that week.
