The price for a week on deep learning is the price or my family holiday should be more choice at a lower rate

My daughter is due to start tcc in sept and looked forward to the deep learning week. But with 6 children and my part time nurses wage I cannot afford to send her on any trips and she isn't keen on the £50 option.

I went to this school and can honestly say that the effort made to include all students into such a week was very poor. The school expected so much from my parents in terms of money, I was fortunate enough to be able to do some of these things but many students weren't able to do any at all because of the ridiculous cost! It is unfair and went against everything they said they stood by. I am glad to see the back of that place. I stand by this petition 100%!

I think the lack of choice is very poor planning.

I couldn't go on any outside of school trips as I couldn't afford to. I was stuck indoors doing maths for a whole week why everybody else was doing fun activities. It's just wrong

Thurston Community Collage needs to be more inclusive, many aspects of the school are very expensive; deep learning week being one of them. As deep learning week is compulsory for all students to take part in parents and carers shouldn't have to pay a small fortune for the activities

I think personal development should be about the child, and not the location. Many parents struggle financially and expensive school trips are a luxury many of us can ill afford. I don't think that trips abroad or to expensive locations within the UK should be undertaken during the school term.

I strongly agree that ALL opportunities should be available for ALL children at school regardless of background or financial status.
