Michela Anderson as "Thumbelina" on ABC's Once Upon a Time
Many children and their families across the globe are affected by various forms of growth disorders, such as Russell-Silver Syndrome, growth hormone deficiency, dwarfism, and achondroplasia. I am one of those children, one of seven with Russell-Silver Syndrome born in Oklahoma. During the first few weeks of my life, the doctors had told my parents that I was going to be blind, deaf, mute, and basically a brain-dead vegetable. The amount of trauma my parents endured was enough to sue the doctors over, although we didn't end up actually suing them. I ended up at a healthy 4'11'', but many children aren't that lucky. With so many doctors not knowing the details of these disorders, the children aren't properly diagnosed or treated. Other times, the family can't afford the medicine or specialists needed. My goal is to spread the word of growth disorders and raise funds for the MAGIC foundation, by guest starring on ABC's drama, Once Upon a Time as Thumbelina, an essential fairytale character for all affected children to read about. I'm not sure if the writers are already writing a storyline for her, but if I could be put in the role, it would be the perfect vehicle to reach my goal. If we get enough signatures, perhaps the creative team will consider our idea. Please sign, because every child deserves the chance to grow. Thank you all!
