I qualify for the 3-year appt and even though I have an EXCELLENT reputation as a professor and never had a cancelled class in over 17 years, I will NOT be applying for the 3-year appt. and risk losing my job unless the unfair provision is removed.

Eligible adjuncts should remain eligible for, at least, a one year appointment.

If you are offered a three year appointment , does that commit you to work the full 3 years. What if you decide you don't want to stay after one or two years?

Not knowing how many positions would be granted to my department and what additional qualifications my department's P and B committee may use made it incredibly difficult to determine whether to go with the two year or three year appointment. I went for the two year with hopes that any issues will be worked out. However, the deadline of 10/17 to apply for the two year and the insignificant amount of information conveyed by both admin and the union made for a challenging week of digging for information that should have been clearly laid out. The union reps scoffing at my concerns and telling me that it was "unlikely that I would loose my job," didn't inspire confidence. This provision does the opposite of securing our jobs; it requires that we trust that admin and the departments' P and B committees' uphold this agreement in the "spirit" of job security. No thanks. That does not actually secure my job.

It's time we formed our own Union as adjuncts in other colleges have done. The university cannot function without adjuncts. The PSC does not really represent us, so let someone leave.

Please be fair with the adjuncts as almost all Universities are dependent on Adjuncts faculty

As a former adjunct, I feel as if this new provision will only hurt our experienced, hard-working adjunct faculty at CUNY.

This is unfair to all adjuncts who are working so hard to educate the student body and building the reputation of the CUNY system.

"Material alteration of the Contract" isn't right.

I am totally confused by these changes and due to other obligations did not have the time to check this further with HR. Thus, as I read the information regarding qualifications for either the 2 year or 3 year re-appointment it appears I do not meet the requirements. It is appauling how adjuncts are treated in spite of the hard work we put into our students.

Please insure our right to retain our one-year appointments if we are unable to get three year appointments.

I'm starting to loose faith in what I believed to be something that I enjoyed doing "teaching". It was never about the money or medical benefits when I chose this profession although these things do ensure a healthy quality of life. All this back and forth (give this, take this) its making me focus more on the political roller coaster rather than educating and preparing our future working class men and women.

Given how little consideration was paid to adjuncts' contributions in the contract negotiations, this is the very least that "our" union can and should do.
