Allow Devon Thornton to play Eastlake Jr FB

Devon (DK) and Matt Thornton have been involved with Eastlake Football since they initially moved to the Sammamish Plateau about four years ago. They moved to the Dallas, TX area this past January, but situations changed, and the family is now planning to move back to the Plateau this summer. DK very much wants to play football again this fall in the Eastlake system. He has made many friends, and learned football playing in this system, and made a significant contribution to Cubs, Sophomore, and JV teams that have won GEJFA championships in each of the last three years. Matt over this period has coached every year, devoting hundreds of hours of his personal time to helping our kids learn the game of football. Due to the strong program developed within Eastlake, the system is unable to accommodate all the players who want to play football. Players who have not played in the system before, or did not get signed up early enough are not able to participate, due to the number of teams being created and the maximum number of players per team. Unfortunately for DK, the Thornton\'s decision to move back to the area was not made in advance of the returning player sign-up deadline, and he now finds himself on a waiting list, with little to no chance of being able to play this year. The purpose of this petition is to ask Eastlake system officials to treat DK as a returning player, and grant an exception to the current wait list policy, placing him on a Varsity (level he would play at this year by age/weight) team for the upcoming season. At minimum, we would ask that he be given priority on the waitlist, so that as players move up or down in level prior to the season, that he be provided one of the first opportunities to fill the slots on one of the varsity teams.
