If you change the astro to a 3G football pitch the hockey team will no longer be able to play on it so think about it a bit more before you take actions

Played for this club and on this pitch for years. We need it to train and play our matches on

This is an absolute joke ‘Wake up and smell the coffee’ Breckland council. Just because the FA offers part funding for a 3G pitch thro grass routes football in Thetford it doesn’t have to go ahead many of the football clubs can’t afford the hire cost as it is so how it’s helping grass routes football?your only going to rent it out thro the sports centre who keep inflating prices. Leave the Astro as it is so more sports people are able to use the surface, hockey has to be played on the current astro surface if the change happens the clubs that currently use it will really struggle to survive as they will have no where local to play.

Must have a pitch suitable for hockey we can’t let the 3 clubs that use one at present die,must be in Thetford as well,the clue is in the tile Multi Use

Could someone from the council explain why football takes priority over hockey! There is one hockey pitch in Thetford whereas there are loads of football pitches.... If you need more football pitches, Hears a though you could re-instate the pitches on Barnham common.

Thetford needs it’s hockey pitch

Please don't be shortsighted in your approach of favouring football at the expensive of thriving club. Use a little nous and get a next generation astro pitch which will allow all sports not just favouring the football fraternity.

My son has actually found a sport he loves and we can’t afford to travel to another town every week for a new team(if they were to accept him) thetford needs it’s hockey pitch

We should widening sport for all not sacrificing hockey for football. 3G cannot be used for hockey, it is too long.

Thetford Town Hockey Club has been around for generations. It would be such a shame to not give today’s youth a chance to learn and play the sport in their home town. Not everyone had the ability or monies to be able to travel 2-3 times a week to a near by town to play a sport they have been playing on their doorstep and this certainly isn’t going to attract new player to the sport. There are many Astro Turf surfaces available that cater to both Hockey and Football, even tennis in the summer. There is no need to get a football only/specific turf reducing its usability. Fingers crossed the right decision is made and hockey can be played in the town for many years to come.

So sad to hear this is happening to your club. England hockey need to step up! Good luck, here's hoping you get a positive outcome.

This is so short sighted

It would be a shame to lose the club and give children off the streets

Don’t let them go ahead there being selfish and plain rude

Please keep the pitch as it is, hockey is a great sport for all ages, and so many would lose a sport they love playing. This would not only affect Thetford town HC but also Herlings HC and Breckland HC
