Thetford hockey club

Thetford Hockey Club have a long established history in the town and provided sporting opportunities to a huge number of young and older players. Supporting a range of sports should be high on the local authorities agenda rather than the narrow focus of this council.

Disgraceful. We should be encouraging diversity in sport. Not every child wants to play football. People can take so much from playing this sport including team skills and many social opportunities. All this will do is limit the opportunities for families and young people to participate in physical activity.

Shameful. Utterly shameful

Norfolk hockey needs to continue to thrive, with decent pitches outside of Norwich and in established clubs across the county. Our communities and young people gain so much from this sport and the relationships and mental wellbeing that comes from being part of a team, in a rural community. Don’t lose the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives and wellbeing of brilliant people in your community.

Noone should have to plead with authority to maintain a healthy lifestyle and outlet for society, football is not the only sport played in Norfolk

Please keep Thetford’s astroturf pitch. 3G football pitches seem to take priority over hockey all too often and it’s not right. Hockey is just as important - at international level, our hockey teams have been more successful than our football so hockey should be encouraged and supported wherever possible.

Hockey needs pitches. Football has enough.

Please dont lose another hockey pitch to 3G. There are plenty of football pitches but not enough hockey pitches. Supposed to be encouraging all sports not just football!! Such a shame

In support of Thetford HC, from a member of another club who has lost 2 home surfaces in the last decade and currently ground sharing in order to survive (Southwick HC)

This seems very sloppy, lazy and cheap by the council. The council needs to remember they are there to serve the public and put them first, in this case they seem driven by finances and finances only. Poor form from the council.

The FA keep getting these pitches installed, they get very little use. Hockey Clubs suffer and the standard of football doesn’t get any better

I hope you get all the signatures you need.

There is no need to replace a multi sport pitch at all! This will only reduce motivation for other sports :(

Mendip Hockey Club faced the exact same scenario! Hockey is such a great sport, and should be encouraged.

Help save the pitch football gets enough and other sports get so little

The idea of having an all weather pitch is to accommodate outside sports, hockey is an outside sport and is played at the same level so why just accommodate young upcoming footballers? Think of the money and custom they will lose. Very poor decision by the council. Hope this works!
