The level of homelessness and poverty is at a record high in BC. So is the amount of the provincial surplus at over 4 billion dollars. Yet the government has chosen to spend very little on helping those people living in poverty.
Together let\'s redirect public spending so that our dollars serve many more people. As someone once said "a country\'s greatness is measured by the way in which it treats its poor".
Pledge your $100 carbon tax rebate to end homelessness in BC.
(Once you have pledged, you will be taken to a webpage that tells you \"Your Signature Has Been Recorded.\" Also on this page is a PayPal donation form - it has nothing to do with this pledge, it\'s for ipetition (the host of the site) because they host petitions for free. Simply close the webpage if you do not want to donate to them. Thanks.)
The scale of this response is compelling enough to move our proposal from a public request to a formal brief for the Finance Ministry. I am finalizing the language for a submission that connects these pledges directly to the current provincial surplus allocation. Expect a status report once the meeting with policy staff is officially confirmed.
