It is a sport. It uses your hands mostly but involves your legs, feet, eyes, brains, body coordination, team work, practices, etc. just as rest of the sports do.

We are now playing in middle school as well so we want the high schools to be ready for us. Go Ultimate. A great sport for athleticism, team building, sportsmanship and comraderie.

I played for Annandale High School's team in 1980 and 81 and coached there from 83-93. The school was supportive of the team, but it was tremendously difficult to get field space,

Ultimate brought me so much joy during my time playing after school with friends at JEB Stuart and playing for the Villains at Virginia Commonwealth University. It is a legitimate sport that should be recognized.

I've moved to California after graduating from college in Richmond VA where I played ultimate. The level of competition between students who had exposure to club level ultimate in high school was absurd. As a resident of Fairfax county (centreville) for 18 years of my life; it is unacceptable that a county that prides itself on being the best on so many levels is so far behind in a growing sport. This needs to be fixed. The sport now has a professional league, it teaches sportsmanship, it's gender-equitable, and is physically demanding. Make ultimate a club level sport in high schools in fairfax county.

Fairfax County has great potential for ultimate frisbee, as a recent graduate of a frisbee player at an FCPS high school. Recognition of some of these high school teams could bring more FCPS schools to national athletic relevance.

I just graduated from VCU and played for them all four years there. I also played ultimate my last two years in high school and it was definitely an integral part of my high school experience. Ultimate was and still is, a huge part of my life and I am positive that cultivating a strong ultimate experience during high school will give kids a sense of community, responsibility, and respect. Making ultimate an official high school sport would give many opportunities to kids. They could learn responsibility by hosting a tournament, create strong bonds with teammates and other ultimate players, and, most importantly, play the sport they all love while having fun. Ultimate is not just a sport, but a strong, supportive family atomsphere that wishes to enstile hard work and spirit of the game in all aspects of life.

I have been a volunteer frisbee coach in Arlington county for three years. I love this sport and I love sharing it with other people. Please support this initiative and help our sport grow across Virginia.

Thanks for taking the initiative, Joey. I am co-owner and managing partner of the DC Breeze professional Ultimate team. I live in Vienna and currently have 3 children in Fairfax County public schools who all love the sport. This initiative is LONG overdue, and will absolutely be the right decision for the school system in both the short and long term. Virtually everyone involved in Ultimate at any level will vouch for the value of the sport and its positive effect on participants from both a physical and mental perspective. FCPS, please consider this petition seriously, and as soon as possible.
