Don't remove it. Leave it so people can be taught about history. It's something dark, sure. But history is dark.

Retaining a structure that represents one of the worst tragedies in our country is not what Louisville should be known for. Place benches out there with words on them, like PEACE, LOVE, UNITY, FAMILY, KINDNESS.

The reason the market still stands is because Louisville was the first capitol of Georgia and it’s a symbol of what the state was like at the time. The sign says the bell hanging came from France on a ship of pirates. Unfortunately, this is our history as Americans. As a History major, I’ve read and written a lot about slavery... especially in the state of Georgia. The market has been repaired, but never torn down and rebuilt. It is a part of History. We don’t know where to go if we don’t know where we’ve been or how we got here. If anything happens to it, it needs to be placed in a civil rights or civil war museum but it doesn’t need to be demolished.
