It should be removed. It symbolizes a time where African Americans were only looked at as cattle basically, sold to the highest bidder to work, clean and take care of children that weren’t their own. It’s a reminder of a time that we, African Americans, would like to forget but we can’t, these people were and are our ancestors.

I hereby sign this petition to join forces in hope to relocate this constant reminder of slavery/ racism statue from the center of downtown Louisville, GA to a museum where it will be disclosed from the everyday public. I am a person of color and I have to say that any monumental remainder of racism that causes a rift amongst the black community along with other races should no longer stand on the streets. We along with most of the world is trying to reconcile with all ethnicities and come together as one. This world, and community need peace and love and with the Slave Market standing tall in Louisville, there is no way that we can achieve that goal. At the end of the day, God didn’t discriminate not one bit and He didn’t see color at all. So, ask yourselves: Am I a true Christian and believer of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit or am I oppose God? Because being racist and showing hate is a description of a person who do not believe in God because to know God and to believe in Him is to have love in your heart for your fellow neighbor. With that being said, by removing the Slave Market, we are implementing love, peace and God back into this community and hopefully it would be something great that would transcend beyond our county limits.
