Things like this have no place in society. It’s disgusting that something like this has been allowed to remain for so long let alone be MAINTAINED as a LANDMARK? This is an embarrassment and an ugly piece of this nation’s history not some grand historical site to be glorified. We don’t need these places maintained to remember and learn from the disturbing content of our history. Tear it down.

What in the name of all things good and holy is THIS atrocity still doing standing in 2020? I understand it has historical significance but that's what museums are for. Either move it to one or better yet, take some pictures and build a model that can be put in said museum. But whatever you do, get the original oppressive landmark gone everyday public space!!

My family comes from Louisville, GA. Although I was born and raised in TN all my life, any time I visited and saw this I felt a pit in my stomach thinking about everything that has happened in that gazebo. It isn’t right. It isn’t “historical”. It needs to be removed.

I strongly believe this appalling landmark should be torn down as a sign of respect and peace. An art piece should be commissioned in its place in honour of the lives of the enslaved and oppressed.
Remove it.
Burn it to the ground !
