Do not appropriate the culture of oppressed nations. Do not name your company after a racist oppressive term used against them.

The name chosen for the store is very disrespectful towards Native People, colonialism should be in the past...

Change the name and start respecting the culture of others. Approriation does not mean you respect it.

The term "squaw" is derogatory and appropriation of First Nation images and terms is wrong. This young white woman has been told so and refuses to concede. This is wrong and I will join the fight against her business tactics, as well as any platform supporting her.

Show respect for those who are true Native Americans. When you’ve been told that your store name is disrespectful you should have immediately changed it.

I know you think you are cute, but you aren't. Change the name and respect your heritage instead of squandering it.

Please consider the more thoughtful comments that you are getting from people. I don't assume that you intended to be derogatory in your use of this name, but honestly, please listen to people who actually know why it is inappropriate. Here in Minnesota, where I live, the state has actually changed the name of lakes and other places in the state to remove the term Squaw. It is like calling someone a whore or a cunt. You don't intend that, I am sure. Make a great business for yourself, but maybe just find a way to be kind to others in the process. If you had not known this all, now you do. And you can still celebrate a find culture by taking into consideration what the terms actually mean, and not what you thought that they meant. Best of luck to you--but I sure hope that you are willing to live and learn and change as you go through life, and not be so resistant to understanding new information and ideas. You will have a ton more success and happiness in life when you allow others to tell you things that you had not realized before!

If the owner was Indigenous, she would know. Ignorance is no excuse for using this derogatory word that denigrates Native American women.

This shouldn’t even be a debate. Ignorance is not an excuse
