To require the endorsement of a "royal" for a Gaelic College is suppressing the victory Gaels via the Colaisde na Gaidhlig has achieved, given the history and what Gaels have had to overcome due to "royals". Preservation of Gaelic culture and language has no link with British royalty and does not desire nor require their endorsement.

Just undo what never should have been done, without any consultation or prior approval of the board.
the word "royal" has and should not have anything to do with this college. Our scottish forefathers were victims of the "royals" . they would turn over in their graves if the name were to be changed. to bad the "people" in charge at the gaelic college did not think or inform the general public before they ever considered adding the term "royal". the old saying is so true, "think before you speak and in this case before you act.

I think the Gaelic College needs to be inclusive. The historic relationship between Gaels and the Crown is certainly complex and multifaceted. I do not have an "axe to grind" against the present royal family but this decision to use the royal moniker tilts the balance considerably towards a pro-british monarchy position. This does not reflect the totality of the Gaelic (and their descendants) views and experiences.
