As the son of a MacKinnon from Cape Breton of Irish, Scottish and Acadian ancestry, I strongly oppose the addition of "Royal" to the Cape Breton Gaelic College.

I see no advantage to the designation "royal". The Gaelic College is an independent, Cape Breton institution, with no ties or connections to royalty.

With all the discussion, I have not seen a coherent explanation from the Gaelic College Board as to why the institution would want to be in any way associated with a singularly untalented family in the middle of London, England and a product of the House of Hanover and the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. What have these people ever done for the Gaelic world and the declared objectives of the Gaelic College?

My great-great grandfather and his four brothers were driven from their homes by the royals of England, no reference to the so-called royals should be allowed in Cape Breton.
Out with the 'Royal' title.
