As a longtime resident of Evergreen Lakes we oppose the rezoning of this land. We hate to see the greenspace and subsequent noise buffer disappear, but if development must happen it should at least comply with the existing development surrounding it. Besides the R-100 designation, any new subdivisions should also have streetlights, sidewalks, amenities and landscape to enhance our area. Our schools are already at or above capacity - we should not encourage over development to further stress out our educational system. The ensuing traffic that will occur on Brownlee Road is another matter that should be taken into careful consideration - especially during higher traffic school entry and release times!

Mountain Park Elementary was simply not built to support such a high density neighborhood propose. The school has already been pushed past capacity in the last 5 years due to Dekalb County Schools flight and Atlanta Pulic Schools flight. As the first Gwinnett County school over the Dekalb County line, Mountain Park's rankings and test scores have taken a dramatic hit with the influx of families fleeing failing schools. These failing schools have created failing, misbehaved, authority defiant students which have negatively impacted a once quality neighborhood scchool. Mountain Park only scores a 3 out of 5 on the new public school scoring system and is already struggling. An influx of lower priced, higher density neighborhood homes would simply bring this struggling school to its knees. Also the traffic would be nighmarish around a school that has already had several near tragic collisions I have personally witnessed. Mountain Park's carpool lane blocks traffic and inconsiderate, distracted and simply intentionally speeding drivers have struck a parent on a scooter, caused cars avoiding high speed head on collisions by diverting their vehicles to homeowners' front lawns and driver rage (several even exiting their vehicles)! The traffic on Lilburn's main thoroghfare, Five Forks Trickum, would also be negatively impacted. A two lane road is not adequate for the proposed development, especially as multiple developments along Five Forks Trickum are already underway. That road, too, has become dangerous and will only become more so as those developments already approved and underway eventually lead to greater congestion and road rage.

This area is already bordering on being grossly over-crowded. The schools, parks, and roadways could not support this sort of development. Please do NOT change the zoning.
