Kiara L. Trahan, an amazing 11yr old girl recently lost her battle with a rare brain cancer called Diffuse Pontine Glioma (brain-stem cancer). She lived in Rochdale Village and in her very short life, put life into a community. She was a prominent dancer, writer, reader, Spelling Bee Champ (2yrs running), was on a few of the most prestigious committees in Rochdale, including Mothers Against Guns, Girl-scouts, Youth Counsel, National Night Out, and The Rochdale Music Festival. She won over the hearts of our elected officials as well like Sen. Shirley L. Huntley, Councilman Ruben Wills, and Assemblywoman Vivian E. Cook. Kiara was an exceptional student and lively young lady that wanted nothing more than to see smiles on her friends and family's faces. She loved this playground and now that it is rebuilt, we think that it's fitting that we rename the playground in her honor.
