For all of the reasons stated in this petition, I do not support the new Zoning Bill as it is currently constructed. However, I am confident that there is a win-win solution here if all the stakeholders sit down and explore the range of options available (and their implications) through constructive dialogue.

Terrible idea. Traffic is terrible and rental townhomes will diminish property values.

I, Johnnie H. Walton, Jr., am against the 600 Rental Luxury Townhouses that the owners of Freeway Airport are petitioning to be built on their airport properties.

At the moment Bowie Can’t handle the population it has. This is just a money grab. I also feel we are being bullied into a situation.

This will be a negative impact on our beautiful community. Our roads are not equipped to handle our current traffic. We already don’t have enough schools to support the current community. Church Road has been the witness to many accidents. It is difficult to access our community due to the volume of traffic we experience today.

This will overburden a currently already overburdened neighborhood. The infrastructure, schools and masterplan does not address the concerns adequately. This has an environmental issues that should be examined as well.

The text amnendment process for changing the wording of a zone definition to carve out development exceptions is deeply flawed. It bypasses a systematic process for developing according to a Master/General plan. The result is growth but not smart growth. This carve out for the airport will create a development outlier of 500 townhome units inconsistent with the density originally planned for this area. I believe it is incumbent upon the supporters of this bill to state their rationale for such an anamolous zoning change and I have seen nothing on the record from the bills sponsors that was convincing. Supporters that come from the developers or airport property owners camp seem to have a financial stake. Other supporters seem to come from a "lesser of two evils" approach who I believe is a false choice I.e. 500 town homes or helicopters 24/7. I belive there is no reasonable justification for changing the as currently zoned density.
