The last thing needed on church road is another development. I suggest council members trying driving Church Road in the morning or late afternoon. Every fact shows we are inundated with homes and non porous areas. This petition should be denied.

I am against the development in its current form. A boy was killed just a few months ago on Church Road. Church Road is country road that has not kept up with development. The capacity is just not there for a development of this size. Prince George's County needs strong regulations for development. The infrastructure needs to be in place to support development. In addition, there needs to be a plan for walkable communities. A person needs to be able to come home. Park the car and walk to restaurants, grocery store, ball fields, sports fields, exercise facilities, and light entertainment. Communities should be small villages. This will keep traffic down as well.

I was appalled to hear these would be rental units. I live in a townhouse community where there is an abundance of rental units. Property values have decreased because renters do not take pride in their "home" because it is not theirs. Is this what you want in Bowie? I don't think so. Besides Bowie is already overcrowded and congested. No appropriate infrastructure is planned to meet the needs of further development.

As long-term residents of this neighborhood we are absolutely against the proposed use of the land as stipulated by CB-017-2019 (for reasons specified by several other petitioners). What we need is smart development, not arbitray development that does not give due consideration to the welfare & wellbeing of current residents, and frankly, does not enhance the profile of the neighborhood. This biased position towards the gratification of developers must stop! Any initiative should result in the collective benefit of residents!

First, we do not need a rental community on Church Road where people are paying over $500-$800K for single family homes. Second, the proposed location is just several hundred yards from the proposed new Ice Skating Rink that is going to put hundreds of more cars on Church Road annually and these won't even be from city residents. Third, the development is not supported by the community or the elected leaders of Bowie. Church Road already has too many developments that utilize this road. It either needs to be expanded with more lights added or limits placed on need development.

I am against this use for the land around the airport. This needs to remain a low density area. There are already problems with the traffic. A teenaged pedestrian was recently struck and killed in the area. This is a bad idea. It would be better to use as a park.

I live in Westfield, near the north end of Church Road. I am extremely concerned about traffic on Church Road, which used to be a quiet country road. Church Road cannot support traffic from a high-density townhouse development. In particular, the airport location is extremely ill-suited for such a development since the sight-line to the airport property is obscured by the bridge over US Route 50 when traveling south. The entrance to such a development would become a prime location for traffic accidents. Further, the County Council should be upholding the RA Master Plan, not altering it to suit one property owner.

I agree with the opposition to the church rd freeway airport project and future projects. As has been stated the county is in a state of extreme over building and greed. The city council votes no on projects then turn around and vote yes. I have no confidence or trust in the county and council that they’re looking out for Bowie and it’s homeowners. That’s why they thought they could put the amazon facility in Westphalia, but the residents weren’t having it. The over building has gotten out of hand and the county and the council needs to stop and consider the quality of life for its homeowners and homeowners who are not looking to leave the county because at every turn their quality of life is being compromised and infringed upon.

The proposed plans will significantly lower property value and expose existing and future residents to additional crime!

I am strongly against this proposal to build more homes at Freeway Airport. My decision to buy a home in this community was based on the fact that Bowie was less congested than other areas and still had a small-town feel. My husband and I did not invest so much money in a single family home in a small community just for it to be overrun by more congestion, more traffic, and more stressors!! The roads and infrastructure can barely support what’s there now! At what point is enough, enough and the beauty and natural value of the neighborhood are more important than the lining of someone’s pockets??? NO, NO, NO TO CB-017-2019!!!

My family live in Bowie. I visit and shop here still. As a Bowie native I have seen too much "progress" to this town. What used to be small and quaint has become crowded overdeveloped . Now you want to build more homes? Bowie has ONE high school. The existing schools are overcrowded. RT 197 is a parking lot, as well as 450 and 301. Clearly these decisions are not in the interest of the citizens and the community. Shameful.

We moved to this location because of the limited amount of houses, townhouses, and traffic along Church Rd. Passing this bill will destroy the reason why we moved here and our reason for wanting to stay. Don’t add more traffic in an already crowded area which it’s already hard trying to make a left turn on Church Rd as it is.

the airport has been a staple of bowie for a very long time. Dont destroy history for political and financial reasons. be smart, think of the kids. Why build more when you BARELY can accomodate what you already have. Schools will be overcrowded, roads overly congested, utilities maxed out, but then again they dont care about quality of life for residents. only money. sad when PG county natives have to start looking outside their home county for peaceful living and a decent school system. DO BETTER PG!!
