Why would they want to put more projects in this area increasing the population, do they not think about schools ? Bowie high school is already packed and students can barely fit in one class room, they squeeze 40 kids in a classroom and now they want to add more ?

I concur building a ice arena is a terrible idea on church rd. A total waste of money. 1. Traffic 2. Ice Arena are extinct. 3. Cost

We need something to be done about the traffic here. It is outrageous that about 95% of cars speed here. It often takes me 10-15 minutes to pull out onto church rd.

Church Road already is a problem with aggressive drivers and speeders and kids getting killed. Adding more housing without a plan to deal with the traffic (let alone schools!) is irresponsible.

This is ludicrous. There isn’t any traffic control now. So let’s add more. Insane. How many more lives need to be lost. Who’s benefiting from this?

We are against ANY townhome development. We will support the development of single family homes if homes are no more than 1 home per 1.5 to 2 acres lots. Church Rd cannot accommodate more traffic if high density townhomes are built. In addition it is a safety issue. Look at records to prove it. We are tired of increased taxes, eroding services, lower home values, poor quality schools, lack of enough schools, insufficient citizen focused law enforcement, low end amenities, lack of high paying jobs, politicians cozing up to developers at our economic and social wellbeing and a disregard for what the tax paying citizens desire. If you move on this, we will work overtime to expose you and ensure that you will not be reelected. Smart development equal high quality of life. We do not want the "sardine lifestyle" of Montgomery County and Northern Va where both workday and non-workday traffic are unbearable. This is why we did not move to those areas when we were looking to buy a home. Do not emulate them. They are not good models for quality of life and peace.

It’s there anyway to investigate the bank accounts of the council members that voted yes to see how much incentive they received for their vote?

The county still has not to this day addressed the traffic issues with Church Rd and now you want to add another 1200+ vehicles (2 vehicles per home minimum). How many more people need to lose their life on this road. The lighting is inadequate from the Masonic lodge towards old 450/Annapolis rd. No sidewalks from the lodge towards old 450 Annapolis rd. Pedestrians walk on the shoulder from the Masonic lodge neighborhood. People still have no idea how negotiate the left turn into Fairwood East and West where one of our beloved youth from Fairwood was killed while jogging. Also let's not forget the new ice skating arena to be built @ Rt. 50 and Church rd. Adding yet another couple of hundred cars.... The time to act like the adults we are supposed to be is NOW! If the Developer wants it this bad let's make him apart of the solution and they can fund the needed safety items BEFORE any construction begins.

20720. We are nearly next door to these proposed property developments. The current airport traffic flyovers already gives us pause. The reduction in land and space for the wildlife is evident, where almost everyday there is a deer or other wildlife found dead from vehicle contact on the Church Street roadway. With these developments we’ll find them in our backyards, and becoming an even greater risk to our children. Moreover as traffic increases so does the need for more traffic calming means. The thorough fare already does not sufficient sidewalks, stop signs or signals for the pedestrians to walk along this roadway. It was an unfortunate result that a sweet child had to die for authorities to take some notice. Which in my opinion was short lived because the “slow” signs came down, the police presence left and it was back to speed business for those who drive though this roadway trying to get to connected street. Heavier traffic and congested development will undoubtedly yield increased casualties. We oppose this bill and any further amendments. Our vote is NO.
