This is a very serious and worrying trend which must be resisted. Turkish free speech and thought is under threat.. This effects all of us

Turkey has become an authoritarian state. And the authoritarianism of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has come to resemble the tyranny of Joseph Stalin in many ways, even beyond that of Vladimir Putin.
And the world is watching!

No, we will not stand for this barbarism from another era. Shame on the Turkish leader for being weak and restrictive.

I condemn the purge of academics by Pres. Erdogan. This violates all principles of international law and is designed to eliminate free and open discussion that is essential to democracy. The world knows what you are doing: creating an excuse to eliminate free and critical thought in Turkey, to consolidate your power. Shame!

Erdogan's policies have hugely weakened his country. Now he has the excuse he needs to bring Turkey to its knees. Heartbreaking!
