Should be in best interest of both schools so all students will benefit.

I took auto mechanics in High school when i went to southern. 50% of each grade take that class at least once and it shouldn’t be taken away

I question the intellect of the individual who came up with that one.

Robbing Peter to pay Paul is not a solution. Do better, GCBOE.

Garrett County caters way to much to the Northern end of the county and the lake/ tourism area that SHS often gets left behind. Its reprehensible that you woukd essentially cut these programs at SHS and alienate those that want to pursue this career path. SHAME ON ALL OF YOU!!! ESPECIALY TOM WOODS who was a great Principal at SHS and MATTHEW PAUGH who is a minister but both can't see how this will effect our children's futures. Most of these students couldn't afford the transportation to the northern end anyway.SHAME ON YOU AND KNOW YOU BRING SHAME AND DISHONOR TO YOUR FAMILY!! You all killed several smaller schools in the county do not let this be another step to kill SHS.

I believe these programs should be offered at SHS so kids can have the opportunity to take these classes as well as other classes like AP classes or honors classes. They should not have to travel across the county to do their cirriculum. The weather is bad enough just going to the schools they currently go to. If you live near Bloomington like I do...my kids are already on the bus for over an hour. These kids shoukd not have to lose credits each year or opportunities in order to take a class. We need our schools. The more you close the less opportunities our kids have and less desire for people to move here. Keep the classes at SHS.

They shouldn't be moved out of schools. Kids love these classes. When you have classes like these, kids are less likely to get into crime, drugs, & it also helps children prepare for a bright future. Sure the schools are still offering it, but they shouldn't be moved somewhere else, it makes absolutely no sense.

These are important things that need to be left within our public school system. Taking away basic learning of life skills means throttling our youth to a future of dependency. Stop taking away our children's rights to learn!

I believe it's unfair for SHS students to have to travel farther than NHS. If it's a central location both parties would have to travel the same distance. But why move the teachers from a facility they are already comfortable with? Why not try harder to replace the teacher(s) that the NHS is missing. I am against this and will definitely share to get more signatures for this petition. Keep things the way they are. Don't make our SHS students miss out on an opportunity just to cater to the northern end of the county.

This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Hire a freaking teacher for Northern!!! My son will be auto mechanics next year and if they do this, I will be home schooling him.

Quit spending money on a sports complex and use it towards education.. whoever is running this system needs an education

this is not fair to the southern students who have the classes already. how is it fair to move our teachers to the northern end and make it a 45 minute drive when it’s only a 5 minute drive for the northern students. most of the pathways in our school are the culinary and auto mechanics. This will result in students who already have there pathway more than half way done to either change pathways or deal with a 45 minute drive when most classes are a hour long.

The program shouldn’t move

If a centralization needs to happen it need to be to a location so that it is the same travel time for both schools, such as McHenry. Hickory and the planetarium is already at the northern end and southern kids already lose time for those services because of the extra travel time that northern does not. Quit robbing Southern end kids of “non typical” classroom time! We live in a community which these classes are essential, not elective!

I think it’s ridiculous you would want to move the two main reasons why the majority of people enjoy coming to school and the only classes that people actually learn something in.

How is 45 mins on the bus even reasonable for southern end. Plus ths time out of the school day for learning such a shame.

I do not currently have children in the school system, but this will impact my grandchildren in the future. Making a more central location for the best interest of all parties involved is the best plan.
