Erik an Lyle Menendez were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for killing their abusive parents and convicted of 1st degree murder and conspiracy (1993 CA vs. Menendez.) The verdict was exceedingly harsh seeing as the district attorney’s office needed to win a case after O.J Simpson was acquitted and therefore excluded most of the defense’s evidence in the second trial. This petition is for a retrial of the case in a fair and thorough manner under the Assembly Bill No. 593. It is coming up on 32 years incarcerated. They have atoned to their crime committed in feared self defense, it’s time they move on in their life with their families.
