- On April 15, 2020, USD 333 published a notice to increase the Local Option Budget 20-8 from 30 percent to 33 percent. The Statute is KS 72-5143. The State requires that Districts receive at least 15 percent yearly. USD 333 receives double that amount now, at 30 percent. The increase is a permanent increase to be determined yearly. It is legal for them to increase this by publishing a notice. An estimated tax yearly increase would be 78,000 dollars, based on 2019 amounts. So in ten years it would be 780,000 dollars. The LOB is A formula based tax. If you believe the tax is a burden for the community, please sign this petition. This opens the option to vote for an increase. We need 427 signatures from registered voters paying taxes to USD 333.

My question is this why is it already doubled? How long has it been this way? What is the money going for? I have children in school so if this money is going towards their education or to pay "good" teachers then I am all for it but there have been some questionable things that USD 333 has spent money on recently that doesn't seem necessary.
There is a way to access a full school budget online. Often, they have a paired down budget they share at meetings simply because the full one is over a hundred pages and you have to know what you are looking at. It’s great question to ask the board.

Wow. Too much to expect people to pay at this time, this is not the only entity in Cloud County we are supporting with tax money.
