The Learning Lab to allow postpone/refund fees [covid19]

I overheard my dad telling my mum that he may not be able to pay for my tuition fee. My dad is a taxi driver and his income is badly affected by the virus. My mum was forced to stop work for a few months. I hope TLL give me a choice not to participate in the online lessons. I do not wish to add extra financial burden to my parents. I will study hard on my own to prepare for PSLE.

I am jot involved in the situation but i dont think it is right for TLL to take avantage of the covid-19 situation.

Low quality of online lesson. Not valued for the money paid

Looking through a forum and teacher provide text support changes me $100 plus per hours. This is the most ridiculous thing ever heard. Refund!

There was no clear communication from TLL on the timing of the online replacement class. There is no LIVE interactive class. The so-called online discussion forum is merely giving out instructions on tasks. Children can’t see teacher on LIVE. So if there is no LIVE interaction btw the children and teacher, what’s the point of attending this so-called online class? What and how could our children learn?

I called the contact centre line today as the lesson that my son is sitting through is not effective (via forum that you need to keep refreshing) efficient and the kids have to type (slowly, given their age). Response contact centre gave me "it is management decision". This is totally unacceptable.

I "attended" one "elearning" lesson with my daughter this morning. We were required to print out the worksheets before class by ourselves. The whole "lesson" had no audio or video effect. No teleconferencing tools like zoom was being used throughout the lesson. The tutor simply typed out the section that they wanted to kids to do, then posted the answers after that. It was very confusing and frustrating 2 hours. My child did not learn much from " attending" this discussion forum. I don’t think paying $100 is justified for such substandard e-learning lesson that is done purely through a discussion forum. I have to print out all the materials myself and I have to sit besides my kid to ensure she concentrates and understands. I also need to constantly refresh the page every 5 min to see the new post in the discussion forum. I see little benefit in " attending" the remaining 5 lessons. Please give me the options to suspend till normal lessons are allowed or to refund the remaining lessons like most of the other tuition centres.

Cost reduction efforts aside. TLL should invest in a platform that is conducive, practical and at least matching what other enrichment schools are using. E.g. zoom, hangout teams etc.

Give parents a choice. Those who want to take online lessons may continue. Those who want to stop the lessons may also stop. Online is not suitable for my children. Instead of sitting in front of the screen helping them to navigate, I would rather be the teacher during these few months. You should not just act like a barbaric tuition centre and forcing parents to pay such expensive fee for online classes. It does not make sense at all. Just because government can’t do anything does not mean you can continue to be this arrogant and do what you like.

Refund or Postpone!

The zoom lesson is short and just go though working papers... is it how TLL teaches?

Need change the tuition fees since all classes will be changed till 30 April 2020.

It’s too painful to sit through.

The quality of the learning has been greatly compromised. The lessons should be either postponed or refunded.

TLL should give discount to parents immediately instead of trying to hold random by withholding 25% discount to be applied next term.

This online learning is not up to standards

I prefer postpone than make-up lesson. It is too much for a young children like both my kids 5 and 7 years old.

Poor planning and project management, how to you expect a kid to understand Maths concept without explanation the concepts and expect them to discuss in the platform. Have tried the online platform TLL 360, which basically is a text based forum. Asked my daughter to log off after 5 minutes. Such as waste of time. We understand if TLL would have to fall back to online platform but please put students’ interest into consideration before rolling it out. Given the current online platform, I appeal to TLL to either refund the course fee or allow a fee rollover.
