Without shelter and somewhere to stay, the homeless community within Exeter will be spread across the city.
This means they'll be harder to find for the Outreach Team, it will be a great deal more difficult to engage them with support services and exponentially increases the risk that lives will be lost in Exeter this winter.
People of Exeter need to rise above NIMBY'ism and consider the broader, long term impact of not enabling those who would otherwise be rough sleeping to access shelter, warmth and support when they will need it most.

Why can't Arthur Roberts old peoples home that is closed down with lights on all the time which is pointless open it's doors at night for homeless open say from 7pm till 9am security on door so no one can sneak drugs or booze in plenty of other places across this city could be used this I would love to know why this can't happen just saying how I feel personally

Everyone should have somewhere warm and dry to go to. Sad state of affairs that a so-called modern, civilised country like the UK has its homeless population increasing, instead of diminishing, whilst the majority of politicians and super rich get richer and more distant or simply ignore the harsh realities that are growing under their feet

I support the petition - I believe it is a local authorities statutory duty to provide shelter during times of extreme weather to prevent them from subsequent harm and possible death.
