It is curious to me that there is the possibility of renovating an 18 hole course at Hiawatha. Here's one example: We live across from the 4th tee and it has been weeks since the grass was cut on the street side of the fence. If that can't be done on a consistent basis, then how can an 18 hole course be maintained? If golf is on the horizon, please consider only a 9 hole course. This is beautiful land in a city setting that should be used by all age groups for various outdoor activities. The current demographics of golfers simply does not support the prohibitive cost for 18 holes of golf. I have more thoughts and ideas but here's the last one....that clubhouse could be a killer money maker. THINK BIG PICTURE AND LONG TERM USE for this urban green space. Let's be smart. Thank you.

Great idea. Golf numbers seem to be going down while skiing, mountain biking seem to be going up. Love the idea of more year round use.

We have lived right across the street for 25 yrs. I would prefer a great 18 hole course but they can't mow the park and across our street in a timely manner. Like the new and diverse uses of the area. Good luck!

This is the best use of the land. Golf is an important sport, but the addition of silent sports would broaden the number of users.

As a member of a nearby private school Nordic team, I would LOVE to be able to have nicer ski trails at Hiawarha. I think many people in the area (as shown by this petition!) would greatly enjoy and benefit for a closer option to winter recreational activities.

I strongly support the petition. We are members of the MYSL Theodore Wirth Park Sunday club, but actually live much closer to Hiawatha. Our family would use Hiawatha extensively if there was consistent snow coverage (translation: artificial snow making in this climate changed/changing world), and improved grooming.

This plan makes the Hiawatha Golf Course a year round destination, more available to the community. This is very appealing to my family, as Hale neighborhood residents, casual Nordic skiers, and potential golfers. The Minneapolis parks are amazing and this would make them even more so. Thank you!

Yes yes yes! The nordic locations with man made snow are currently over crowded. Nordic is very popular in the Twin Cities and many more man made ski areas are needed. Active and healthy in the outdoors, especially in the winter!

This is a key early season ski destination for South High Nordic Team (that team includes skiers from Roosevelt too, as they do NOT have a team). This would be an outstanding resource for a huge number of people, and can be used by all ages, reduce bus costs for high school nordic teams, and allow nordic teams to start at the younger age groups, as they do at Anwatin. Snow making and grooming are key.
I support His petition.
