The density and profile of the proposed land use violated the present zoning restrictions which should not be changed or emended.

Traffic at this corner is already a problem. The area Neighbors never purchased their home thinking it would have some monstrosity in the backyard Or visible from the front porch. Building a quiet Dead end-drive culdesack or circle drive with multiple townhomes would be very appropriate and would offer the builder some recoup to satisfy their investment. A taller structure like this is more suited for the former Blacksburg high school location—Not in a residential area at a high traffic corner. Stop being greedy and stop letting builders have their way. Do what’s right for the residence of this town! Please!!!!

No. Do not rezone another neighborhood to add dense housing. There is so much land around us why are we continuing to crammy people into small areas? Greed. Please consider keeping 100 Country Club Drive the same. Do not rezone and add more traffic to an already congested area.

I live in the Country Club Drive area. My comments here reflect my lived experiences over the course of 20 years. During the past 2 decades, Blacksburg has undergone huge structural and economic changes affecting locals in a variety of ways, some beneficial and others detrimental. Does Blacksburg need affordable housing for families who work in town? Absolutely. The fact that Virginia Tech salaried staff, hourly wage workers, and even junior faculty cannot afford to rent or purchase homes in town is appalling. Should the proposed housing project be on this site, according to the plan put forward? No. The infrastructure of that particular area will not support it. Water mains are already stressed and we have had no less than two interruptions of water service in the area within the past several months due to main breaks. The sewer system and sidewalks would need to be upgraded. The grounds are insufficient --parking appears to be scant for the number of residents, and the allotted green space is stingy relative to the expected residence of children and senior citizens in particular. The intersection of South Main and Country Club is already stressed to the point of being dangerous. The high profile of the building is inappropriate for the location. Why is this location desired by the developer? The project would be far more suited to the northern side of town, which, like this location, has grocery stores and bus stops, and where there are vacant spaces not to mention run-down 2-story developments begging to be replaced. The underserved working people of the NRV will not be well served by such an inadequate plan. In short, the project looks like a money pit and a bad solution to real problems.

I applaud the desire to build affordable housing in Blacksburg. I would support this project if it were smaller in scale. The impact to the street-scape is detrimental and the increased traffic is not adequately taken into account. I respectfully recommend that the project be scaled back.

I vote NO to this proposal. There is too much going on that is changing the character of Blacksburg. We need to slow down and see how these changes impact life for permanent residents before going all steam ahead.

This is a tremendous eyesore on our main street. This building is out of character and too dense. Low income housing is important, but should not be provided to the detriment of the citizens surrounding the area. This would create quite an unnecessary division and tension among the neighbors. Please encourage the developer to submit a plan that is more appropriate for that space.

Too tall too dense! It is adding too much traffic to an already congested area for nearby neighborhoods.

I have been a resident of Blacksburg since 1977. I am opposed to this hideous addition to Main Street. It is not an appropriate design for Blacksburg an could not possibly fit into any well thought out project and appears to violate existing plans for Blacksburg.

We all want affordable low income housing for our citizens. However, we expect the existing neighbors and the neighborhood to be considered in the process.

The project as proposed is not being sensitive of the surrounding areas neighborhood. Since a zoning change is bing requested it shows that the scale and mass as proposed is not appropriate use of the lot. I sincerely ask Blacksburg Town Council to vote NO to this zoning change and ask the applicant to resubmit a project that fits on the lot.

While I support efforts to expand affordable housing in Blackbsurg, I am concerned about the proposed density for this project. It is a mismatch for the location.

Way too dense for that corner
A one ore two story max multi family affordable apartment w/ proper setback and amenities for the residents would be a wonderful addition to our community . This needs to be about 30% of the density CHP is offering, they can’t make their numbers work with the proper/ lower / current density, the town of Blacksburg needs to find a developer that can
