The Future of Country Club Drive

This proposed structure is too large for the space; a 42W STUFFED into a 32Pant; GROTESQUE and INCOMPATIBLE with the neighborhood on many levels.

Please DENY this request for zoning change. While affordable housing is needed, the proposed is too tall, too dense, and does not promote safe walking conditions.

Please vote NO on the Legacy Project, it is too dense for the corner of Country Club Drive and south Main Street, it is too tall for the location and it doesn't fit in the comprehensive plan for the property. Also the increased traffic on Country Club will cause problems to the walkers and bike riders plus a nightmare for the residence of our neighbor hood

We do not need ugly buildings in this area. There are other areas in Bburg that are more appropriate. No need to change zoning.

Planning commission acknowledges Country Club is already narrow for cujrrent traffic. Adding another 100 cars daily is simply unsafe on the only ingress to the development. If you have to jam it, don't plan it. Vote no on this project.

The community supports a project of lower density for this location and a greater setback from the busy streets to ensure the safety of new residents.

We hope you will honor current zoning which shoukd be the town's promise to its residents. The proposed project is just too dense for such a small parcel of land and an already narrow road.

Please preserve old homes. And as a former resident of Highland Park for about 20 years, I don’t think this development will be safe, plus it will negatively impact traffic.

Stop tearing down historic homes!!

Too much and it’s unreasonable to think tenants will be biking and walking everywhere….especially with young children

I would love to have other spaces considered around town for this project rather than one of the busiest intersections in town. I also believe that Blacksburg should do something to preserve historic properties. This will be the second historic home demolished this year at the expense of a large housing complex.

Too Tall, Too Dense! The project has a number of issues with the Size and Density being most prevalent. The current width of the street and traffic patterns are an issue now, and Town Government is discounting this by stating in public forum that "this is not required for this type/ size project". This statement may be true, but the Town is remiss by ignoring this current problem with future traffic and safety issues. The statement from several of the Planning Commission members concerning setbacks and density should at least cause pause in "shoe-horning" this proposed development on this site...("shoe-horning" was CHP's words, not mine). The proposed development has real issues for the neighbors and town residents in general. Work with the neighbors to reach a real solution instead of forcing this through and pushing the problems for future residents to deal with. Too Tall and Too Dense. Please vote NO to the proposed project, and create a working group to solve the real issues.

The overwhelming majority of our citizens opposing this proposal are not against affordable housing or affordable housing on the proposed site. SO PLEASE STOP THE GASLIGHTING planning commission and town council to justify approving this project, as it stands, as either you're for affordable housing or you are not. SHAMEFUL and IRRESPONSIBLE! CHP are salesmen and masters of spin and you are buying into it. CHP absolutely can build a development on that piece of property that is less dense and with 25 ft setbacks to make it SAFE and fit with the existing neighborhood and COMP PLAN!. AGAIN, you are being naïve by accepting the CHP claim they cannot make it work less dense. They are salesmen and you are willing participants to their pitch. To hear Planning Commission (GAWD Mel Jones stop talking) justify their decision based on that assumption and for fear CHP will back out if not approved as is shows no depth of understanding of the bs CHP is selling and what the town is telling you to do. AFFORDABLE HOUSING ON THAT SITE...YES! But build it safely and less dense per the Comprehensive Plan, the Plan we elected you to uphold and helped develop. Again it is not about should affordable apts be there. It would be great to have them. So STOP using it as it has to be done so dense and so unsafe or those opposed are against affordable housing. WAKE UP, STOP GASLIGHTING THE TOWN and DO YOUR JOB! THE JOB WE ELLECTED YOU TO DO!!!! I look forward to replacing Leslie as mayor in the next election.

I cannot see how this project will benefit anyone in the town of Blacksburg. It will create a traffic nightmare to the already busy South Main Street. And if anyone thinks the residents of the project will forsake the use of cars to crow the street to get their groceries from Kroger, they will be taking their lives into their own hands. Crossing Main Street is a nightmare now!

Too tall and too dense for this corner!

The town should respect its own comprehensive plan and zoning. This project is completely out of line with a density 2.6 times greater than the plan and with minimum 10 foot setbacks from all property boundaries. Every planning commission member said this proposal was not perfect and needs more work - yet four of the seven members still voted for it as they didn't want to lose this proposal. Please send this back to Community Housing Partners (CHP) and have them submit something more in keeping with the existing zoning. If not, every vacant lot in town will be open slather for CHP or others to develop at their will. Existing zoning will mean nothing.

Citizens of Blacksburg, please join us in supporting this property remain in its current zoning from the Town of Blacksburg of R-5; density and additional traffic can't survive the zoning change requested by CHP. This has the potential of creating traffic density to such a level that anyone using Main Street will be negatively impacted.
