Please don’t build an event and parking center at Selby Gardens. It’s an historic location and holds a great deal of meaning to residents and guests alike. We love it the way it is now!

Sarasota is becoming all about money and greed. If developers, builders, and businesses take away everything beautiful, tourists will stop coming and residents will more away. People used to move here because it was beautiful and relaxing. Now it's ridiculously congested and there's not much nature left. All so wealthy people can make more money. This is just sick. I'm seriously considering relocating. I'm just about over it.

Please be a champion of the environment and beautiful spaces as Marie Shelby was and do not create a parking garage and multilevel building. Even if you dress it up, it will be a development that will increase traffic and concrete, neither of which are in line with the goal of beautiful gardens for the public. Please consider what the public wants for this space and what Selby would’ve wanted for it, not what will be good for profits.

Leave the Gardens the way it is. It is one of the few places you can go in Sarasota and enjoy the beauty of nature. We should not destroy the trees.
