Selby's missions should be to be a good neighbor first and foremost. Creating a massive and unaesthetic structure designed as a party center, that competes with the tax paying private sector, is the antithesis of being a good neighbor. Destroying the environment and replacing it with concrete is not in the public interest. There should be no hesitation in rejecting this plan by people looking to create a monument to their vanity at the expense of the neighborhood and the city in general.

We are in the process of losing everything that has made Sarasota the charming and lovely seaside/bayside town that it was in the favor of commercial enterprise- when elected officials who are supposed to be representing the public’s interest approve huge development projects and skyscrapers behind closed door meetings that affect our skyline, traffic burdens, sewage concerns, and our quality of life, for the benefit of a few contractors, why must the residents of Sarasota county have to fight to preserve our quality of life? It should be self evident that projects of this nature do not have a place here- and in the case of the proposed Selby construction, expressly goes against the wishes of the benefactor of this property??!

Recent developments are ruining the beauty of SRQ. Please dont take this away. Its a treasure and not just locals but tourists enjoy this tranquil place. Besides its a part of the town istory.

This plan has no business being considered if the residents are that opposed to it. If the developer wants to get their plan through, they should work for a solution that benefits everyone.

No. Just no. Greed has colored the original Selby vision green, and not a horticultural green. I would like to know who is driving this development campaign, which seems completely out of character for a preservationist garden. As a physician, I am concerned that the pollution from so much proposed vehicular traffic is toxic, not only for the gardens, but also for the respiratory health of the neighborhood. And then there will be noise and light pollution, as well...

Stop the crazyness! No cutting down any trees, or 6 story garages with a estaurant on top of it! No way! Selby Gardens is already beyond its limits. Do not destroy what we have. Let's find more space somewhere else and create a new , second larger botanical garden, if necessary. But keep Selby as it is!

I do not want to see great oaks cut down for parking! This is a residential area. All of this is about $$$. More people, events and revenue.
