This issue is far overdue being dealt with, The government are going about their business blind. This issue is pushing tourists and cruise line away(#1 source of income). I work in the tourism trade and when guest ask me ( almost everyday) what's that burning? I reply the dump I get the strangest of looks and comments like what are they doing about this, my only answer is nothing yet and does not look anything will be done.
Government you are killing the tourist trade and all the people that live here. Wake up for (God)our sake.

I live and work right across from the Dump. It is absolutely stunning to know that it is of no concern to the powers that be, that the students and future of St. Maarten are attempting to learn while inhaling toxic fumes daily. It has to stop!

This dump has been a serious health hazard for a long time. It is about time that we as a community come together to make a change happen.

Keep the garbage wet so it won't catch fire. Or get informed how other countries deal with it. Can't be rocket science

How ignorant and backwards can one country be? I will be photographing and blogging with NO concern for what it does to anyone's pocketbooks or this island's image, which is a sad joke of a façade. Something sustainable needs to be put into place—now. A total environmental 180. Bans on styrofoam and plastic. And you need to blanket schools and this community with education on how to reduce, reuse, and oh yeah, maybe we can join the rest of the civilized world and recycle.

If you don't want to act for your own health, at least do it for the kids!

Save your people! This is unhealthy and very sickening! So much money being put on other thugs, get your priorities straight. The people and their health and well being comes first!
