Sanitary solution to huge garbage disposal problem has to be put in place, or tourism will suffer.

Visiting for 12 days, I am apauled at the overflowing garbage bins. I wondered how they dispose of trash here, very sad. No more construction of new buildings until a plan for waste is in place. I can't believe the amount of garbage people leave on beaches. At happy bay beach I removed a Corona bottle from the water, a large McDonald's bag with trash, cigarette butts, bottle caps....

It is time for our gouvernement of ST. Maarten to take action. Because it is more than people are being hurt by this problem. They got offers and plans on how to help with the pond water and fish die off that is bad for the health of the people. But still nothing done to help this dailly growing problem.

I always wondered what the pond would look like had the dump not been installed there. Would we still live up to our old name, Soualiga, land of salt? This [menace] to the environment has plagued our beautiful isle long enough. It is time to reclaim our home!

During a project my partner and I ventured into the dump to investigate the problem with E-waste on the island (Electronic Waste) and what we found went beyond so. Not only did we find many electronics having their chemicals leaked into the soil, but also runoff into the water. This problem cannot be ignored for much longer, let's make this island clean together.

I have lived in Sint Maarten my entire life. Something must be done to save the dump, and the entire island.

To solve this issue we need the PEOPLE of St.Maarten to stand up for themselves and others, how can we live on this beautiful island yet we are breathing in carcinogens caused by the dump!

Spontaneous methane fires are constantly combusting, spreading toxic waste into the air. St. Maarten's income is based off of the tourism industry. What more can I say?

Some people create their own storms and then get mad when it rains. We need to stop this dump chaos before it thunders.

I will ensure that I help to contribute to the restoration and rejuvenation of the degraded environment on our island in every way possible, starting with how and where I dispose of waste.

I will try everything in my power to reduce the amount of trash I produce and stop this problem that we have on our beautiful island.

The dump could actually be turned into something that helps the island. Our "friendly island" should be friendly to the future generations and do so.

I feel that the dump of st.maarten is spoiling its beauty and I am glad that I can be a part of something that will help make it better.
