I am also a concerned citizen and I would like to offer my services in any way possible to work together to find solutions to this hazardous garbage problem that has plagued our country for way to long. I totally support this petition and urge everyone to sign this petition. I believe we should also present this petition to Parliament to discuss this issue of urgent importance to the general well-being of our community and a meeting should be held with regards to this topic. According to the constitution:
Article 24
1. Everyone is entitled to submit written petitions to the competent authorities.
2. Persons who are unable to write may submit petitions with the assistance of others who
are declared under national ordinance to be authorized to provide such assistance.
3. The competent authorities are obliged to respond to petitions within such time limits as
may be set under national ordinance. Petitions to the Parliament shall be answered by
the Parliament within such time limit as may be imposed in terms of the Parliament’s Rules of Order states
Article 19 point 3:
The petitions committee is required to reply to applicants in writing within a term of 12 weeks following receipt of their applications. Parliament also plays a vital role in this matter.
Let's work together to help solve this issue that affects the whole community as SXM is everybody's business.

Next to cleaning the dump, apply separating of the garbage, put more garbage bins on every beach and clean beaches and/or lagoons better, several new technologies available or soon available, but just with manpower you come a very end: http://www.theoceancleanup.com/ & http://www.seabinproject.com/
Seperate Plastic, Cans, Greens and other.... Implement "statiegeld" on plastic bottles and or can's for recycling, and collect it in separate containers.
We live in 2016, enough examples of how it could be done...

Will the Government please step up and make this right! Tourists are going to give up on what used to be the top spot in the Caribbean. We've got plenty of choices!
